Hi Angelia,

It sounds like your unlock button may be worn out, when this happens there is usually nothing you can do about it except to replace the remote. Double check that you can still unlock the vehicle using the power unlock switch. This will rule out any problems with the vehicles power door lock switches / actuators.

I having a problen with my Dodge Durango remote. It will lock the doors but not unlock them. Would a new casing solve this problem.

Hi Pamela,

Usually if a button is lost it is necessary to replace the entire fob but in the case of the Chrysler’s, some of the replacement shells do come with new keypads. Check these out.

Hi Cheryl,

A broken housing could definitely cause the remote to fail. For instance, if the two halves of the housing didn’t make a proper seal then the internal components could become loose and cause the remote to stop working. Or it may just work intermittently.

If your housing looks OK and doesn’t appear to be broken or loose then I’m not sure if a new one would help. If you can get exactly 3 weeks out of a new battery, every time, it sounds like the remote itself could be failing internally.

It is unlikely that you have a bad batch of batteries but I guess anything is possible and it would be hard for me to rule that out as a possibility. If I had to call it, It sounds like your remote is on it’s last legs.

They can do strange things like this when they are about to fail.

YES, I AM having a problem with my remote…it only works for about 3 weeks after I put in a new battery then dies….when i replace the battery it works fine….would a new “casing” fix this??
